Areas of Focus

Renewable energy provides an estimated eighteen percent of the total electricity generated worldwide and is expected to grow exponentially over the coming decades. Blue Renewable Energy intends to be on the leading forefront of this industry growth. Blue Renewable Energy is or has been involved in various renewable energy projects involving technology in the following areas of the industry:

  • Solar Energy
  • Wind Power
  • Biomass Energy
  • Geothermal Energy
  • Sustainable Real Estate
  • Solar Energy

Blue Renewable Energy is well-versed in the dynamics of solar energy projects, both small and large. We have been involved in hundreds of projects involving Photovoltaic (PV) or Concentrated Solar Power (CSP).

Solar energy is derived from our sun through the collection of solar radiation. Solar powered electrical generation relies primarily on photovoltaic and heat engines. These technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they capture, convert and distribute solar energy. Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic panels or solar thermal collectors to harness the energy. Passive solar techniques may include orienting real estate to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.

To date, Blue Renewable Energy is involved in over 100 megawatts of Solar Energy Projects across North America. Our projects stretch across North America and Blue Renewable Energy is continuing to expand at a rapid pace.

  • Wind Power

At Blue Renewable Energy, we understand that sustainable energy is provided through different means depending on user requirement and the resources surrounding the project. Because of this, Blue Renewable Energy has begun development on several Wind Energy Projects across North America.

Wind power is growing at an annual rate of thirty percent and is widely used throughout North America. Modern wind turbines range from 600 kilowatts to 5 megawatt nameplate capacity, although 1.5 to 3 megawatt rated turbines have become most common in commercial and utility use. The power output of a wind turbine is a function of the cube of the wind speed, so as wind speed increases, power output increases considerably. Areas with stronger and more constant winds, such as offshore, high altitude and flat sites are preferred locations for wind farms. Typical capacity factors for these sites are twenty to forty percent, with values at the upper end of this range for the most favorable projects.

The global potential of wind energy is believed to be forty times the current global electricity demand. Wind power is renewable and produces no greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane during operation. Currently, Blue Renewable Energy and its partners are involved in over 1,000 megawatts worth of Wind Energy Projects.

Expertise

The founding members of Blue Renewable Energy have over 30 combined years in the industry. In that time our record has been perfect in bringing projects through to fruition. Our employees are specialty-trained for the benefit of our clients and those looking to benefit from clean energy. We are focused on value, safety, and sustainability.

  • Development

Developing energy projects is where Blue Renewable Energy got its start. The experience that we have in this arena is well diverse. Whether it is developing our own projects or partnering with small developer for the benefit of their clients, Blue Renewable Energy has done it all. Crucial development services that we provide our clients and partners are:

    • Determining project feasibility
    • Conceptual budgets, design and material identification
    • Financial Modeling
    • Site identification and site control
    • Entitlement and the permitting process
    • PPA negotiations
    • Interconnection process

In many cases, Blue Renewable Energy assumes the role of a late stage developer; stepping into the developer role late in the development cycle of a project. Partnering with small developers or acquiring projects that are “shovel ready”.

  • Financing

Funding is typically the primary component of a project. A project’s success or failure lies on the ability to competently structure and source cost effective capital. The finance professionals at Blue Renewable Energy have the ability, know how and financial banking relationships to solve this part of the equation. With our network of partners throughout the capital markets, money is never short for a strong project.

  • PPA/System Sponsor

Blue Renewable Energy extends its responsibilities in a project beyond development alone. The ability to be a PPA is the differentiator between Blue Renewable Energy and others in industry. This is a commitment that lasts the life of a project. The average developer is typically not willing or is not able to make this commitment due to the longevity. A PPA must prove that it has the strength to survive 20 – 30 years after the project begins operations.

Blue Renewable Energy has the ability step into the role of PPA Provider or System Sponsor. This is our firm’s primary purpose and we often assume this role for projects being developed and constructed by other organizations. Our financial strength and industry backing allows us to ease the minds of both financial institutions and consumers alike.

Over the years, Blue Renewable Energy has evolved the PPA into another option for our commercial clients. Coined by Blue Renewable Energy as the PAPA, the Power Avoidance & Production Agreement blends both power avoidance (efficiency) and production into one seamless agreement.  Providing the end user a more efficient and environmentally conscience solution.

  • Engineering, Procurement & Construction

Blue Renewable Energy’s core function is to build solid projects with our partners. The notation that a penny saved is a penny earned is not always a consideration when it comes to quality. We value quality and reliability so that we can bring solid and safe returns to our partners.

The skilled employees of Blue Renewable Energy procure for our own projects along with other projects under construction in the industry. Our long standing relationships with manufacturing powerhouses across the globe enable us to buy at lower than market prices. This ability often rolls over into getting projects off the ground. Through our buying power and value engineering many projects that don’t make sense initially, make sense by adding Blue Renewable Energy into the equation.

Our in house construction experts are used to bringing projects in under budget and on schedule. This is due to our understanding of project dynamics that affect a job both directly and indirectly.

  • Operations, Management & Maintenance

Commonly referred to as O&M, Operations Management & Maintenance is that piece of the project that doesn’t start until the construction is complete, making sure the energy production facility is operating at peak performance all the time. In our eyes, O&M is an extension of the EPC. The knowledge and know how that goes into designing and building renewable energy production facilities is the same knowledge and know how that it takes to maintain them. Blue Renewable Energy uses the industry’s top of the line monitoring systems to achieve this. By monitoring the system’s output, weather conditions in the area and solar radiation or trends in wind, our staff can implement any changes needed to make sure a system is operating as efficient as possible.

In addition to 24 hour surveillance, Blue Renewable Energy schedules routine site visits to clean and service energy production systems.
